Contractors Mechanical Nears Completion of Stryker Medical Project
Southwest Michigan—Contractors Mechanical is providing mechanical contracting services for the new 400,000-square-foot manufacturing facility for Stryker Medical, a division of the $4.3 billion, Kalamazoo-based Stryker Corporation, that makes specialty equipment such as critical care, MedSurg and maternity beds, hospital stretchers, ambulance cots and EMS equipment. The division has been operating for decades from two manufacturing sites: one in Portage and another in Kalamazoo.
Contractors Mechanical is constructing and installing plumbing, HVAC, and process piping systems for the facility. This includes boilers, hydronics, variable air volume boxes, rooftop units and air handlers for the HVAC system, refrigeration piping and med gas piping for oxygen lines.
The first equipment and employees were transferred to the new location in October this year. Move-in is slated to continue through late November, with final construction wrapping up before the end of the year. Kalamazoo-based Kalleward Group is the construction manager for the facility.
