West Michigan Plumbing and Heating Changes Name to Contractors Mechanical; Unveils New Corporate Identity
Southwest,
Michigan — West Michigan Plumbing and Heating has changed its name to Contractors Mechanical, unveiling its new corporate identity. The mechanical contractor design/builds and constructs plumbing, heating, hydronic, HVAC, medical gas piping, and process piping systems for industrial, commercial, and multi-unit construction projects.
The mechanical contractor’s new name and corporate identity reflects a change that has occurred over several years as the company evolved from a plumbing contractor into a full-service mechanical contractor. For many years now, the company has been contracted for the mechanical work on major industrial, commercial, and multi-unit construction projects. The company’s geographic service area has also grown beyond West Michigan, working on projects throughout Michigan, in the Midwest, and in other regions of the country including New England, the Southeast, and on the West Coast.
Mark Dobbins, President of Contractors Mechanical says, “It’s a big step, one we’ve deliberated for some time. There is equity and heritage connected to our old name. However, it became clearer and clearer that a name change was necessary. Plumbing and heating no longer communicated the full scope of mechanical contractor services we perform, and many people did not realize the size of our company and the scope of projects we are contracted for. We also found our West Michigan identity to be somewhat limiting as we entered other markets throughout Michigan and especially when we went into Florida, California, New Jersey, and elsewhere. We needed an identity that is more universal for all our markets.”
Contractors Mechanical’s extensive experience includes mechanical systems for industrial, manufacturing, processing, commercial, retail, office, government, healthcare, education, worship, hotel, resort, hospitality, and major multi-unit and multi-family facilities encompassing apartment, condominium, assisted-living, long-term congregate care, and student housing developments.
Among a lengthy list of high-profile projects are mechanical systems for the new Stryker Medical facility in Kalamazoo, Michigan, and plumbing and industrial piping systems for the Disney Linen facility in Orlando, FL, which when newly built was the largest of its kind in the world. Mechanical Contractor services for educational facilities include multiple new school and renovation projects for more than a dozen school districts including the new high school presently under construction for Gull Lake and completed high schools for the Three Rivers and Galesburg-Augusta systems.
Hotel and hospitality mechanical projects range from high-rise hotels to facilities around the country for Disney Vacation Clubs, Comfort Inns, Fairfield Inns, Holiday Inn Express, Summerfield Suites, and Marriott Residence Inns, including specifications to meet earthquake-resistant codes for California projects.
The company selected Francis Marketing, a Grand Rapids, Michigan, firm specializing in repositioning business-to-business companies in the marketplace. Galen De Young, Managing Director at the firm says, “The new corporate identity was created and selected for its clear, concise, straight-forward messaging and universal appeal. Historically, there was some ambiguity in the marketplace regarding the nature of the company’s services. We needed to align the perceptions of the company’s clients and prospects with the true offerings and status of the company.” In addition, brand identities were also created for two of the company’s proprietary processes. PROview™ identifies their plan analysis and bidding process, while CM3™ is Contractors Mechanical’s unique project triangulation process that ensures quality project management practices.
Integrity at Work™, the company’s new tagline, encapsulates what the company believes truly differentiates them. Dobbins explains, “This is sometimes perceived as a commodity business. The integrity of our workmanship, our company, and our people and our standards of conduct at work are how we’ve built long and trusted relationships with our customers. We stand behind our work every step of the way. No exceptions. Clients tell us that makes us unique in the marketplace.”
