Contractors Mechanical’s Safety Program Earns Elite ABC STEP Platinum Designation
Southwest Michigan - Contractors Mechanical’s Safety Program earned the elite STEP Platinum designation from the Associated Builders
and Contractors (ABC). Contractors Mechanical was presented a Platinum award, the highest level of STEP (Safety Training and Evaluation Processes),
at the ABC Construction Awards program held at the Pinnacle Center in Greater Grand Rapids on October 25, 2007.
Platinum level status is intended to recognize consistent, long-term, proven track records for safety success. Therefore, companies competing
for Platinum recognition must have won a Gold or Platinum STEP award in the prior year to be eligible for consideration. Contractors Mechanical’s
Safety Program won a Gold STEP award in 2006.
“Elevating our safety program to Platinum status speaks to the comprehensive scope and integrity of our programs and the strength of commitment
to safety education, safety protocols, and safe practices by our employees and sub-contractors,” says Mark Dobbins, President. “This
is the second consecutive year our safety program has earned recognition and the first year it has been eligible to compete for Platinum status.
It is very gratifying to know that we’ve ‘fast-tracked’ and earned elite recognition in the shortest timeframe possible!”
In addition to earning Gold or Platinum status in the prior year, safety programs must meet the criteria of 10 additional qualifications to compete
for Platinum recognition. Measuring and earning a high combined score for 20 key safety evaluation components and a three-year incidence rate that
is equal to or below average within your industry’s NAICS code are among the qualifications required for consideration.
